Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “South Pacific” opens June 5th at Huron Country Playhouse. It’s a riveting theatrical experience that covers the spectrum of human emotion. “South Pacific” became only the second musical to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Drayton Entertainment’s production stars Chilina Kennedy and Branch Fields.

Chilina Kennedy is widely recognized for her 2012 Broadway debut as Mary Magdalene in Stratford Festival’s revival of “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Kennedy has also appeared in Toronto productions of “Lord of the Rings” and “Mamma Mia!.”

Alongside Kennedy as the mysterious planter Emile de Becque is Branch Fields. A star in the world of Opera and Broadway, Fields will reprise the role that he first understudied in the Lincoln Centre production and then starred in at the Utah Festival Opera, the Musical Theatre Piedmont Opera and the historic Ogunquit Playhouse.

At the helm of this extraordinary love story is Director and Choreographer Michael Lichtefeld, who has choreographed six musicals on Broadway and has spent nine seasons at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival.
