Breathtaking performance and production. I found it interesting to compare this performance to the performance on The View.
The View is shot in a TV studio, the Tony Awards were at the legendary Beacon Theatre in Manhattan. The folks at The View did a great job of creating an intimate performance of a big, theatrical number. Plus the onstage camera work is well directed. Watch the shot go right behind the dancers, bringing the viewer close to the action.
Watch it HERE and compare.
Also, note the difference in sound; the Tony Award version has a full orchestra, which adds rich depth.
Lots more to compare, but I don’t want to spoil it. Watch the video and see for yourself.
